Vignettes from my life - some from my kitchen, some from my travels and some random musings to fill the gaps inbetween.

Looking ahead...
Sometimes...I deeply imagine..the kind of person I am, rather, the person that I want to become, that I truly want to become…Someone far from being a part of this rat race. My imagination runs amok at these times of deep cogitation, I picturize Ruskin Bond sitting and writing away fond musings of his Mussourie, with the noisy cicadas chirping away, in the world beyond his little window sill. This world beckons me, wanting me to share its simplicity. Realization dawns that life is not just about enjoyment, friends, laughter, wealth or woes…It’s about satisfaction. It’s about how much you learn, to be able to satisfy yourself. Life, to me, is about living in a small wooden shack at the foot of the Alps, in a dreamy quaint old town, watching a couple of cows grazing away in the sprawling meadows across the foothills, oblivious of the world around. Life, is about spending afternoons sitting in that rocking chair, near the grill-less window, with its creaking noise reverberating throughout the house, leafing through What Katy Did, with a quarter of the mind on the Mozart playing in the background, feeling the gentle breeze brush against the face, wafting with the scent of honeysuckle and bring news about the arrival of the wicked frost. It’s about making cheese from sour milk or brewing coffee with a dash of fresh cream melting away, revealing that beautiful marble effect, peeping into a wide-brimmed glass of soda, to feel the effervescence of the bubbles against your face, spreading chocolate on those transparent plastic sheets and just rolling them out into curls, or just snuggling up in bed with a fairytale, on a nice and starry night. It’s all about simplicity…It’s about drinking in the essence of the world around you, that will make you look and feel beautiful. Life is about experiencing the thrill of reading a good passage that makes you feel rejuvenated, the exhilarating experience that the magic of words alone can give you. It’s about picking berries in the wild, all the while babbling your mind, with the person whom you just trust with all your heart, without even being aware of it, feeling the wind rushing and stopping for a breath after that long run on the cliff, with the sea crashing with all its might angrily upon the rocks far down below, sitting on a wooden bench and hearing the rustle of the ripe, reddish-yellow maple leaves fall to the ground…And a hundred other instances just come gushing into my mind. Life is all about living it, and living it while the mirth lasts.
